Preserving History, Exploring the Future
NEMMIG serves the public as a free facility dedicated to education, preservation, and research for the genus Iris in all of its forms. Specifically to research and showcase which iris species and cultivars grow and rebloom well in Zone 4 Minnesota gardens, and to collect and preserve Historic iris cultivars.
The focus of the garden is to study reblooming iris for Minnesota gardens, to preserve Minnesota Iris Introductions, past and present, and to display for public enjoyment and education the unique variety of colors and characteristics displayed by the many different iris species. The goal is to have something always blooming in these gardens from April-June and again September-November.
